Overview

To support the Japan market entry of Comfort Linen—a Canadian startup offering a health-focused sleep system—CarterIGNITE partnered to test real-world product fit, assess consumer feedback, and prepare for launch.

The goal: understand how Japanese users experience the product, what localization is needed, and how to support a smooth path to distribution. We began with an in-home product usage trial, working with individuals experiencing poor sleep quality—including those living with Parkinson’s.

Participants documented their experience through online diaries, while our team conducted in-depth interviews to understand the product’s perceived impact, emotional resonance, and areas for improvement. In follow-up interviews, we explored long-term impressions and use continuity. We also tested the startup’s e-commerce website with Japanese users to uncover pain points and improve accessibility, relevance, and clarity for the local market. Alongside this, CarterIGNITE began laying the foundation for distribution support in Japan, preparing for next steps toward market activation.
